Overview
The project required the placement of an S-trac steel plate on the deficient pavement structural section in order to park Airbus 300-size aircraft. The S-trac redistributes the load from the aircraft gears over a wider area, thus necessitating lower soil-bearing requirements.
Our Role
AB Engineering Inc. recommended the use of a structural section in lieu of the steel plates, which reduced the cost of the project by $2,250,000 and provided an extended service life of five years. The RON parking north of Taxiway Charlie has been in service for over four years to date and the pavement section is in excellent condition.
